In 2019 we achieved FSC certification, a first for our industry in the Bay of Plenty. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), is an internationally recognised organisation responsible for promoting and monitoring environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests.
FSC certification tracks the wood from the forest to the shelf. So when you see the FSC label on a product, you can be sure that the paper came from responsible sources and has followed a strict chain of custody.
Along with this, a robust waste management regime to remove all single use plastics from our manufacturing facility was implemented.
The purchase of industry leading offset and digital print technology with lower emissions and less wastage when setting up has further reduced our power consumption.
In 2024 we achieved Net Carbon Zero certification with Toitū Envirocare. We are committed to managing and reducing our emissions. Accordingly, we offset our unavoidable emissions by investing in carbon credit projects to compensate for the Toitū mandatory emissions resulting from our operations.
As proof of our commitment, our Tauranga manufacturing facility has a 432 panel, 254KW solar system installed. Producing 106% of our energy use with excess exported back to the grid. Saving 42 tonnes of CO2 - equivalent to planting 7500 trees.
Our goals are linked to our company vision of reducing our CO2 emissions beyond neutrality.
The initiative, managed by Toitū, involves a framework to undertake meaningful, science-led action and have a positive impact on society, working towards a carbon positive future.
With the aim to educate, inspire, and enable, this allows our clients to make sound decisions with social, environmental and economic sustainability being increasingly essential to operating responsibly.
